Canless — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

Canless has no account and no server of ours. Everything you record in the app — your quit date, check-ins, cravings, slips and settings — is stored in a single file on your own device and is never uploaded by us. The third party involved is Google, through the ads, the purchases, and the crash reporting and usage statistics described below.

Who is responsible

The app is published by Bálint Neuhausz (Hungary), the data controller under the GDPR. Contact: [email protected]. Full business details are in the Imprint.

Your data stays on your device

  • Your whole progress is one file in the app's private storage. There is no cloud copy and no server that receives it.
  • Export hands that file to you through the Android share sheet, and import reads a file you pick — both happen only when you ask, and the file goes only where you send it.
  • The optional automatic backup (Premium) rewrites your save to a document you choose — for example a folder a cloud app of yours syncs. The app writes only to that one document you picked; where it syncs from there is between you and that app.
  • There is no account and no login, so the app does not know who you are. What you log about your habit is never transmitted by us and is not shared with anyone.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

In the free version, a banner ad is served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google's advertising SDK may collect device and usage information, including your device's Advertising ID, device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad-interaction data. Google processes this as an independent controller under its own terms — see Google's Privacy Policy.

In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, the app shows a Google-certified consent prompt before personalized ads are used, so you can accept or decline. You can change your choice any time from Settings → Ad privacy options in the app. With Premium, the banner is not shown.

Crash reports and usage statistics

The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics (which screens and features are used, never the content of what you log — your check-ins, cravings and figures stay on the device). These services may process device identifiers and diagnostic information; Google's handling is described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The Premium subscription, the one-off lifetime purchase and the shield packs are handled entirely by Google Play Billing — the app never sees your card or payment details, only whether a purchase is active.

Notifications

The daily reminder and any extra nudges are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push service and nothing about them leaves your phone. They are off until you turn them on.

Children

Canless is a general-audience app for people quitting energy drinks and is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

There is no account for us to access or delete — uninstalling the app deletes its data from your device. Backup files you exported or set up yourself stay where you put them until you delete them. For the ad-related data Google collects, use the Google links above and your device's privacy controls. You can contact us at [email protected], and under the GDPR you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, this page and the "last updated" date above will be updated.
