Röfi is a course in personal finance in the Duolingo shape, cut into lessons you finish in a few minutes. It covers inflation, saving, credit, investing, Hungarian savings and taxes, and mortgages. Every answer comes with an explanation, what you miss comes back for review, a streak keeps you coming back, and a pig with a coin slot on its back cheers you on. Six units free, no account, and your progress stays on the phone.
A lesson is eight exercises and takes three to ten minutes: multiple choice, true or false, a missing word, matching pairs, and a decision scenario that asks what you would do. Every answer, right or wrong, is followed by an explanation, because that is where the teaching happens. Miss one and it comes back once later in the same lesson; miss it again and the answer is shown.

That makes 48 lessons and 377 exercises, and every unit ends with a recap.
Each exercise moves through learning, familiar and mastered, and comes back for review after 1, 3 and 7 days; a miss drops it a box and brings it back sooner. When something is due, an Ismétlés card appears on the map. A review session is at most ten exercises, costs no hearts, and is free and unlimited for everyone.
Any finished lesson or review counts for the day. Streak milestones at 3, 7, 30 and 100 days pay a small XP bonus, and a shield bridges a day you miss; you earn one at 7 days and another at 30, and can hold at most five. XP adds up to levels, and a daily goal of 10, 20 or 30 XP keeps the habit honest. Then there are the 23 badges on the Eredmények screen, an optional 18:00 reminder that nudges you on days you have not learned yet, and a home-screen widget that shows the streak and Röfi's mood.
The lessons explain how a rule or a product works: the mechanism, the trade-off, who decides. They never tell you what to buy. Every Hungary-specific claim cites its source in the content itself, whether MNB, NAV, allampapir.hu or the statute. The lessons were checked against the live rules on 24 August 2026. Rules change every year, so content updates ship with the app, and a notice tells you when a lesson you have already done has changed.
No registration, no login, no cloud. Lessons, reviews, the streak and the widget all work in airplane mode; the network is used only for ads, crash reports and usage statistics, Google Play billing and Play's update check. Your whole progress is one file in the app's private storage. It exists nowhere else, so uninstalling the app deletes it.
An auto-renewing Google Play subscription, monthly or yearly, with the price shown in the app and on Google Play. It changes nothing about what the lessons teach: every unit ends up free, and Prémium removes the ads and the limits and opens each new unit a month early.

Most people learn personal finance by making the mistakes first: the credit card that was cheaper than it looked, the savings that inflation quietly ate, the tax on interest nobody mentioned. The Hungarian specifics, such as TBSZ, állampapír, kamatadó, THM and the debt brake on a mortgage, are scattered across statutes, bank PDFs and forum threads, and nobody sits you down to explain them.
Röfi borrows the shape that works for languages: short lessons, an explanation after every answer, spaced review of what you got wrong, and a streak that makes coming back tomorrow the easy thing to do. The teaching happens in the explanation rather than in the question; a right answer still tells you why. Every Hungary-specific claim cites its source in the lesson content, and the lessons were checked against the live rules on 24 August 2026. When a rule changes, the app updates the lesson and can tell you so if you have already done it.
It is education, not advice. The lessons describe the mechanism and the trade-off: how a rule works, what a product costs and who decides. The decision stays yours. And it is Hungarian only, on purpose: the rules and the terms are Hungarian, and tanulj a pénzről napi 5 percben (learn about money, five minutes a day) is the whole promise.
The app is free, and all six units, reviews, the streak, the badges, the reminder and the widget are free with it. The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob: a banner, a full-screen ad after roughly every fourth finished session, and rewarded videos that only play when you choose to watch one for a heart or an extra lesson. In the EEA there is a consent prompt, which you can revisit in Settings. The free version also comes with five hearts a day and two new lessons a day. Röfi Prémium is an auto-renewing Google Play subscription, monthly or yearly, with the price shown in the app and on Google Play: no ads, unlimited hearts, no daily lesson limit, and every new unit a month earlier. Google Play handles billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds, and you can cancel any time from Play's subscription centre. Bundles of one or three streak shields are also sold as one-time purchases. The review. Each exercise you have seen sits in one of three boxes (learning, familiar, mastered) with review intervals of 1, 3 and 7 days. Answering it right moves it up a box; a miss moves it down. When exercises are due, the map offers a review session of at most ten of them. Reviews pay 5 XP, cost no hearts, count towards your streak, and are free and unlimited for everyone.
A day counts when you finish any lesson or review. Reaching 3, 7, 30 and 100 days pays a small XP bonus. A streak shield bridges one day you miss: you earn one at 7 days and one at 30, you can hold at most five, and bundles of one or three shields can also be bought as one-time in-app purchases. If you like, the app can remind you at 18:00 (and once more at 21:00) on days you have not learned yet. The reminder is a local notification, offered after your first lesson and again at a three-day streak, and you can turn it on or off in Settings.
No. Röfi teaches how personal finance works in general terms: what inflation does to savings, what THM includes, how a TBSZ or a mortgage's debt brake works. It never recommends a product or tells you what to do with your money. Every Hungary-specific figure in the lessons cites its source (MNB, NAV, allampapir.hu, the statute) and was checked against the live rules on 24 August 2026, but rules and rates change every year, so the app ships content updates and leaves the decisions to you. For an individual decision, ask a professional.
Neither. There is no registration and no login; the lessons, reviews, streak, badges and widget all work offline. A connection is used only to serve ads in the free version, to send crash reports and usage statistics, by Google Play for a purchase, and by Play's update check. All of your progress is a single file on your phone: XP, lessons, mastery, streak, shields, hearts, settings and the purchase state. There is no cloud backup, so uninstalling the app deletes it.
No name, no e-mail, no account. Only Google's services see anything: Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports (a stack trace, the device model, the OS version, a Firebase installation id) from release builds; Firebase Analytics receives a pseudonymous app-instance id and app events such as lesson started or completed, review done, streak milestone, ad shown, paywall viewed or subscription started; and Google AdMob serves the ads in the free version, with a consent prompt in the EEA that you can revisit in Settings. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared beyond these Google services. Google Play additionally handles a purchase and the update check. The privacy policy at rofiapp.hu has the full details.
Hungarian only. The rules that matter are Hungarian, and the terms keep their own names: TBSZ, THM, KHR, állampapír, kamatadó. Röfi is an Android app on Google Play, with no iOS version. It is rated for 13 and up and is not directed at children under 13.
